Some resources I used this weekend

Stoc.Xchng - download free royalty free photos! I used these to use some photographic elements in my background images.

I also looked up some After Effects 3d text tutorials, on youtube like this one:

There are probibly even better ones out there if you look. I just type in "How to... blah and blah...in insert program name here" and just browse what comes up. I was manipulating type in after effects this weekend and youtube was a handy resource for that. Take atvantage of the nice folks offering up thier tips for free! ;)

This is a demo on Autodesk sketchbook pro. But it is mostly the artist talking about being a student, the frustrations and his determination...... inspiring.

"I made this in 4th year at animation school at Sheridan. 5 months of storyboarding and re-boarding, 2 weeks of design and 3 months of mad production. Its all now but a fuzzy dream. There are a lot of things that were rushed, but it is what it is. Over the last year C Block has been showing in a few festivals around the world, and I was fortunate to attend a couple of them. I will try to make a a summary of it all at some point."
-Vladimir Kooperman

Hand drawn on paper, colored in Photoshop, composited in AfterEffects. Enjoy:
This is considered more motion graphics than animation, but it is dang cool!

Speaking of Animation

This is from a cool new website called Speaking of Animation:
Here’s evidence that proper acting and gestures are more important than lip-sync.
(It’s a clip Pete Docter showed in a lecture a couple years ago.)
So make sure your character’s body sells the line before you go crazy trying to get the lip-sync right.

Doctor Who?

I was really pleased to find on the Doctor Who page on BBC's website that they have examples of thier concept art and storyboards among other goodies. My husband and I caught up on the ones we missed over the winter break. I *heart* that show!
